Lily B .
Fairview Park, OH
Hospital: UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital, Cleveland, OH
A Fourth of July baby, Lily is a little firecracker who was born with a fighting spirit. Her strength of will has been essential to her survival. Lily was the ninth person in the world to be diagnosed with STAR Syndrome, an X-linked syndrome characterized by syndactyly, a condition where two or more hand or foot digits are fused together; telecanthus; an increased distance between the medial canthi of the eyes; anal or genital malformations; and renal issues. Determined to give Lily the best odds of survival, her parents moved from San Diego to Cleveland to be near UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital. Lily has endured multiple hospitalizations, surgeries and tests, but she has thrived thanks to the hospital and the coverage she has under Medicaid. She has gained the strength to enjoy activities such as walking, talking, singing, swimming and dancing. She is an inspiration much larger than her stature.
